پنچری لاستیک | Dealing with a Flat Tyre
A flat tyre is one of the most common roadside emergencies drivers face. It can happen on a city street or kilometres from the nearest town. Knowing how to respond safely and efficiently — whether you change the tyre yourself or wait for assistance — is an essential skill for every driver.
علائم پنچری | Signs You Have a Flat Tyre
A blowout is usually obvious — a loud bang followed by rapid vehicle pulling to one side. However, a slow puncture can be more subtle. Watch for:
- The car drifting or pulling noticeably to one side
- A vibrating or thumping feeling through the steering wheel or seat
- The vehicle feeling sluggish or harder to steer
- A low-tyre-pressure warning light on your dashboard (if your car is equipped with TPMS)
اقدامات اولیه | Immediate Actions
- Stay calm — do not brake hard or steer sharply. Gradually ease off the accelerator.
- Gently steer toward the road shoulder or a safe pull-off area.
- Activate your hazard lights before you have even stopped.
- Once stopped on a safe surface, apply the handbrake and place wheel chocks or rocks if available.
- Set up your warning triangle at least 30 metres behind your vehicle.
تعویض لاستیک | Changing the Tyre — Step by Step
If you have a spare tyre and the necessary tools (jack, wheel brace), you can change the tyre yourself:
- Loosen the wheel nuts slightly before jacking the car up — this prevents the wheel from spinning.
- Position the jack under the vehicle's designated jack point (check your owner's manual — incorrect placement can damage the car body).
- Raise the vehicle until the flat tyre clears the ground by a few centimetres.
- Remove the wheel nuts fully and take off the flat tyre.
- Mount the spare and hand-tighten the nuts in a star/cross pattern — not in a circle.
- Lower the car and then fully tighten the nuts with the wheel brace, again in a star pattern.
- Check the spare's pressure as soon as possible — a spare tyre at the wrong pressure is unsafe.
لاستیک زاپاس موقت | Temporary (Space-Saver) Spare Tyres
Many modern vehicles carry a narrow "space-saver" spare tyre, not a full-size replacement. If yours is a space-saver:
- Do not exceed 80 km/h on a space-saver spare.
- Have your original tyre repaired or replaced as soon as possible.
- Avoid using it for long distances — it is designed for short-term emergency use only.
وقتی نمیتوانید لاستیک عوض کنید | When You Cannot Change the Tyre
If you are on a busy motorway, at night, in bad weather, if you have no spare, or simply feel unsafe doing it yourself — do not attempt the change. Instead:
- Stay in your vehicle with your seatbelt on if you cannot safely stand outside.
- Call roadside assistance or a towing service.
- Stay well clear of the traffic lane if you do exit the vehicle.
پیشگیری از پنچری | Prevention Tips
Regularly check tyre pressure (at least once a month), inspect tyres for embedded objects or unusual wear, and replace tyres that are worn, cracked, or more than six years old. A small habit can prevent a big roadside headache.
